A 16 days activism has been organized by ‘Take Back the Tech Bangladesh’ to highlight the and prevent violence against women. On November 29th, 2020, a session on ‘Behavior in online to prevent the cybercrime’ as a part of the activism, where the importance of awareness to prevent online harassment and violence was discussed briefly. The guest for the session was Ms. Tawhida Jahan Assistant Professor & Chairperson Department of Communication Disorders Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dhaka and the session was hosted by Ms. Mahbuba Sultana Coordinator, Take Back The Tech Bangladesh.
In the competitive global job market, a young person do not have enough time to set a career goal after completing their graduation. In order to assess potential career options and to discover which career will align with them according to their interests and skills, definitely they need to think about it from their early stage of study. They need to face some practical experiences with extracurricular activities, part time duties, and internships and so on. From this concept, Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) organize a hands on job preparation workshop on 26th November 2020.
The first activity of Take Back The tech this year 2020 has started from Central Women’s University on 23rd January. The program was organized with the participation of about 70 female students of the university. The program focused on the cyber risks of female students and various aspects of remedies.
After completing the first successful event in 2020, we were thinking of organizing some more events like that. But before arranging the rest, a severe pandemic situation started all over the world. For which all the institutions & organizations closed to avoid public gathering and to obey the rules about maintaining social distance.
When all the people started to depend on online for keeping themselves updated about all the news of the world, the problems of the cyber world got increased. That’s why, we started to circulate information about cyber safety through live sessions on social media.
The first session of 16 days activity on “prevent violence against women” was held on November 27th, 2020 with the title “Online Harassment and Techniques to be Secured in Online”. The guest for the session was Mr. Sayed Nasirullah, Senior Assistant Commissioner, Cyber Security and Crime Division, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and the session was hosted by Ms. Mahbuba Sultana Coordinator, Take Back The Tech Bangladesh. The focus point of this session was to create and increase awareness to prevent online harassment and violence.
বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্ক এর উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত হলো ‘অ্যাডা লাভলেস সেলিব্রেশন-২০২১’ ক্যারিয়ার টক অনুষ্ঠান। কম্পিউটার সাইন্স এবং আইটি বিভাগে পড়ুয়া বা স্নাতকধারি শিক্ষার্থীদের লক্ষ্য নির্ধারণ, নির্দেশনা এবং সঠিক ক্যারিয়ার বাছাইয়ের সিদ্ধান্ত বা দিক নির্দেশনা প্রদান করাই অনুষ্ঠানের মূল উদ্দেশ্য।
২৫ নভেম্বর— ‘আন্তর্জাতিক নারী নির্যাতন প্রতিরোধ দিবস’। ঠিক কবে থেকে নারীদের উপর শারীরিক, মানসিক, অর্থনৈতিক বা সর্বোপরি সামাজিকভাবে সহিংসতা শুরু হয়েছে তার কোনো সঠিক দিনক্ষণ জানা না থাকলেও, নারীদের প্রতি সহিংসতার হিংস্রতা দিনে দিনে পুরো মানবজাতির জন্য অমর্যাদাকর ও অবমাননাকর পর্যায়ে চলে গেছে। একবিংশ শতাব্দীর এই দ্বারপ্রান্তে এসে যখন আমরা সভ্যতা আর উন্নত বিশ্বের মানসম্পন্ন জীবনযাত্রা নিয়ে গর্ব করছি, তখনও দেখা যাচ্ছে বিশ্বব্যাপী পুরুষের তুলনায় মেয়েরা বেশি নির্যাতনের শিকার হচ্ছে। আমাদের জীবনযাত্রার সর্বত্র পরিবর্তন ও আধুনিকতার ছোঁয়া লাগলেও পাল্টায়নি নারী নির্যাতনের চিত্র। নারী— এই শব্দটি যেন সেই প্রাচীনকাল থেকে প্রতিটি দিন, প্রতিটি ক্ষণ বিভিন্নভাবে নির্যাতিত ও শোষিত হচ্ছে।
বিশ্বের মোট জনসংখ্যার প্রায় অর্ধেক নারী এবং সমাজের উন্নয়নে তাদের অবদান অনস্বীকার্য। কিন্তু এখনো নারীকে পারিবারিক, সামাজিক বা অধিকারের দিক থেকে পুরুষের সমকক্ষ তো বিবেচনা করা হয়ই না, বরং প্রতিনিয়ত নারীকে লড়তে হয় তার স্বাভাবিকভাবে বেঁচে থাকার অধিকার নিয়ে। অথচ এই নারীর কারণেই একটি সন্তান পৃথিবীর আলো দেখতে পায়, একটি সুন্দর জীবনের শুভ সূচনা হয়। আর এই নারীকেই মানুষ নয়, আমাদের এই সমাজে কেবলমাত্র একজন নারী হিসেবে চিহ্নিত।
সাধারণত কোনো কোম্পানিতে কিভাবে নিয়োগ দেওয়া হয় বা কিভাবে নেটওয়ার্ক তৈরি করতে হয় সেসব বিষয় নিয়ে একটি অনলাইন ওয়েবিনার আয়োজন করে বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্ক-বিডিওএসএন। গত ১০ নভেম্বর এই ওয়েবিনারে অংশ নেন, ডিভাইন আইটি লিমিটেড এর ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর ইকবাল আহমেদ এফ. হাসান, স্কাইলার্ক সফট লিমিটেড এর ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর এবং সিইও বি এম শরীফ এবং ইনোভেটিভ আর্টিফ্যাক্ট এর ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর নুসরাত জাহান। অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন বিডিওএসএনের সাধারণ সম্পাদক মুনির হাসান।
উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য বিদেশে যাওয়া এখন অনেক শিক্ষার্থীরই প্রথম পছন্দ। ইউনেস্কোর ‘গ্লোবাল ফ্লো অব টারশিয়ারি লেভেল এডুকেশন’ শীর্ষক প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে প্রতি বছর বাংলাদেশ থেকে প্রায় ৫০ থেকে ৬০ হাজার শিক্ষার্থী উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য বিদেশে পাড়ি জমান। এদের অধিকাংশই বিভিন্ন কনসালটেন্সি ফার্মের মাধ্যমে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ভর্তি প্রক্রিয়া ও ভিসা প্রসেসিং সম্পন্ন করে থাকেন। বিনিময়ে ফার্মগুলো একেকজনের কাছ থেকে ৫০ হাজার থেকে কয়েক লাখ টাকা পর্যন্ত নিয়ে থাকে। কোন কনসালটেন্সি ফি ছাড়াই উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য বিদেশগামী শিক্ষার্থীদেরকে সার্বিক সহযোগিতার জন্য বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্ক (বিডিওএসএন) শুরু করলো বিনামূল্যে হায়ার স্টাডি সহায়তা কার্যক্রম।
