Bangladesh Open Source network (BdOSN) signed an MoU recently with ICT Division, Government of Bangladesh to support initiative of national High School Programming Contest (NHSPC)-2016. Md Lafifa Jamal, Vice President of BdOSN and Mr harun-or-Rashid, Additional Secretary of ICT Division signed on behalf of respective parties. According to the MoU, BdOS will provide all logistics, academic and contest support to organize NHSPC 2016. This year, there will be  16 regional contest winners of which will move to National Program to be held in Dhaka. Besides the contest, BdOSN will also facilitated the mentors and facilitators taining, 64 district workshop and the National High School Programming Camp.

National Girls Programming Contest held with enthusiasm

63 teams consisting of 3 girls in each team from across the country mark the successful completion of National Girls Programming Contest (NGPC)-2015 held on 12th December at Daffodil International University campus Dhaka. SUST Twinkle, solving four out of six problems became the champions while CUET Sparkles and DU Team 1 became first and second runner up respectively. Advocate Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP honourable state minister of ICT handed over the prizes to the winners. Codewizerd of 3 high school girls tops among the high school category. A special prize was also awarded to the youngest team from Netrokana. The three members were 10, 11 and 11 years old.

BdOSN will celebrate the Computer Science Education Week from 7-15th December 2015. A nationwide actvities were planned to mark this wee which includes but not limited to Hour of Code, Online Programming Contest, National Girls Programming contest etc. The preparatory activities will beging with a "Programming Adda" to be held in Biswa Sahitya Kendra on 21st November at 4pm.

First ever Python Code Sprint organized jointly by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) ended succesfully on 15th June 2015. On the closing ceremony, Mr S M Ashraful Islam, executive director of BCC handed over the certificates to 18 participants. He wishes that the participants will be able to apply the technique and knowledge in their professional life. The occasion was also address by Mr Enamul Kabir, Director, Training of BCC, Enayet Hossain Rajib, Joint Secretary of BdOSN and Mr Tanvir Shuvo the camp coordinator.

Campus awareness programme on combating violence against women with ICT held in ACC

On 11 June, 2015, Take Back the Tech Bangladesh team visited Adamjee Cantontment College, Dhaka for a campus awareness on combating violence against women by using information and communication technology (ICT). This was the largest gathering in any TBTT programme in Bangladesh. Around 500 students participated in this event. Teachers of Adamjee Cantontment College were also present. The programme was organized by ACC ICT Club and supported by Bytes for all Bangladesh and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN).

Workshop on "Introduction to algorithms and how to apply them in computer programming" held successfully in the Charle Babage lab of Daffodil International University (DIU) on 5-6 June 2015. BdOSN in collaboration with Code it, Girl organized the workshop for the girls. DIU hosted the workshop. 18 female students from Dhaka University, BUET, North South University, Jahangirnagar University, National University etc joined the workshop. Bristy Sikder, a student of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) conducted the workshop while Mirfat Sharmin and All Rabbi of BdOSN facilitated the same. The workshop covered the basic algorithm required for computer programming. Students learned the basics and application of Ad-Hoc Problems, greedy algorithms, Divide and Conquer: Merge Sort, Graphs, BFS, DFS, Jug Problem, etc.

Bangladesh Open Source network (BdOSN) recently became a partner of the ICT Division under Post, Telecom and IT Minitry of the Government of Bangladesh to help them to arrange first ever National High School Programming Contest (NHSPC). The initiative by ICT Division and supported by the telecom operator, Robi aims to create awareness among the high school students towrads computer programming. For this a nationwide campaign will be launched on 29th April will which cover all 64 district. The regional competion, will be held in 7 Division and Dhaka city, will be held from 8th to 23rd May.

Any people could be a leader if he or she tried some rules and make his/herself a risk taker. The opinion has been emerged in a training workshop title “Dream Big - Personal Leadership for Young Entrepreneurs!” on 24th April 2015. The workshop was organized by "Chakri Khujbo Na Chakri Debo", the entrepreneurship platform of BdOSN. Mr Javed Pervez, Vice President of Robi Ajizta limited conducted the workshop attend by more than 30 entrepreneurs and would be entrepreneurs. After presenting his thought and ideas Mr Javed responses the questions from the audiences.
