The first activity of Take Back The tech this year 2020 has started from Central Women’s University on 23rd January. The program was organized with the participation of about 70 female students of the university. The program focused on the cyber risks of female students and various aspects of remedies.
After completing the first successful event in 2020, we were thinking of organizing some more events like that. But before arranging the rest, a severe pandemic situation started all over the world. For which all the institutions & organizations closed to avoid public gathering and to obey the rules about maintaining social distance.
When all the people started to depend on online for keeping themselves updated about all the news of the world, the problems of the cyber world got increased. That’s why, we started to circulate information about cyber safety through live sessions on social media.
On the occasion of Girls in ICT Day, a discussion session was organized at 22nd April, where Mr. Sayed Nasirullah, Senior Assistant Commissioner, Cyber Security and Crime Division, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit, Dhaka Metropolitan Police talked about cyber security, harassment, crime and solutions with Ms. Mahbuba Sultana, Coordinator, Take Back the Tech, Bangladesh. They focused cybercrime and harassment on anyone especially girls and women. This session aimed to impact on social awareness and how to be free from the crime as a victim.

On the 23rd of June, another live session was organised with the title of “Cyberbullying and Crimes: Problems and Solutions”, where we got Mr. Sayed Nasirullah as a guest once again. Through this entire session the program guestMr. Sayed Nasirullah & host Ms. Mahbuba Sultana tried to show the practical scenario of cyber risk by providing different examples to the viewers.
Like every year in 2020, Take Back The tech also continued its 16 days campaign in a different way with different target audiences to create & increase the awareness. Under this program, the first awareness creating session was held on November 25 through Facebook Live. The aim of the event was to create cyber awareness among all the people especially among the women.
