Career Talk and Job Exposure Visits for Women

A clear concept about the working trend and the status of the job field, before the completion of education makes it easier to survive in the current and future competitive job market. Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) organized a career talk and a job exposure visit with women on 5th February to prepare women for the time and to give a proper guidance.

Career Talk was organized at Eastern University in the presence of a total of 45 students of the University. Munir Hagan, General Secretary of BDOSN was present there as the keynote speaker. He participated in an interactive discussion session with students about what the future job opportunities might be like and how to prepare for it.

By 2022, the world will have a crisis around 2million programmers, at least 60% of business entities will become IT dependent, 40% of business transactions will be done through the Internet, about 6 million jobs will be created with cyber security. In addition to web designers or developers, the scope of Big Data, machine learning or data mining will increase. Therefore, it is possible to exploit this opportunity only when it is in full control of information technology.

How to be prepared, he answered to students' questions, 'You have to find your own expertise and areas of interest and practice them regularly. The skills needed today may not be valuable tomorrow. Therefore, there is a need to keep up to date with the current flow of information technology so that one can improve his or her efficiency accordingly. Otherwise, the people of the country will become unemployed even if there are many job opportunities and foreigners will take those opportunities.” Career Talk was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University Professor Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Advisor and Professor Dr. Md. Ional Haque, Dr. Md. Aminul Haque. 

On the same day, BDOSN visited the software development organization BrainStation 23 with around 18 students from the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University of Asia Pacific. More than three hundred employees work in that office. Students visited the office of the organization and they came to know about the various activities and facilities of the organization.
