Blockchain - Bangladesh
Blockchain is a shared, immutable ledger that facilitates the process of recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network. An asset can be tangible (a house, car, cash, land) or intangible (intellectual property, patents, copyrights, branding).
The blockchain is a distributed database of records of all transactions or digital event that have been executed and shared among participating parties. Each transaction verified by the majority of participants of the system. It contains every single record of each transaction.
Session 01:
Introduction to Blockchain : Beyond BTC
On 11th September, 2021, Bangladesh Open Source Network - BdOSN and munirhasan Dot Com jointly organized the first session on blockchain under FuTech. The session was based on the introduction to Blockchain. The session also covered the future and use cases of Blockchain.
The session was hosted and conducted by Dr. Niaz Chowdhury, Author, Education and Higher Study Expert.
Session 02:
Awareness on National Blockchain Strategy of Bangladesh
On 18th September, 2021, Bangladesh Open Source Network - BdOSN & munirhasan Dot Com organized a session on ‘Awareness of National Blockchain Strategy of Bangladesh’ under FuTech as to make the interested participants aware of the technical strategy and future of blockchain technology and The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has finalized the National Blockchain Strategy in 2020 for the adoption and dissemination of blockchain technology in the country.
The Chair of the session was Professor Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Author, Professor of SUST and the President of BdOSN; Panelist: Khondokar Atique-e Rabbani, Managing Director, The Computers Ltd.; Keynote Speaker: Dr. Md Sadek Ferdous, Principal Author, National Blockchain Strategy of Bangladesh & Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, BRAC University.
And the session was hosted and moderated by Dr. Niaz Chowdhury, Author, Researcher & Higher Education Expert.
Dr. Niaz Chowdhury introduced the guests to the participants and gave a short description of the session and said that many governments across the world first questioned the purpose of blockchain technology but later on they all agreed to the benefits of blockchain technology and adopted it. He also added that blockchain technology had reached its peak and it had already declined and reached the most stable position of its use cases. Dr. Niaz Chowdhury advised the participants to start adopting blockchain technology and learn it. Then He invited the keynote speaker of the session Dr. Md Sadek Ferdous to take the floor.
Dr. Md Sadek Ferdous started his presentation by saying that blockchain technology is considered as a fundamental technology nowadays and the popular cryptocurrency is a fruit of this blockchain technology. Blockchain technology can help in both research and innovation. But this will take time to be mature. He also mentioned that blockchain technology is one of four pillars of future technology which also included IoT, Cloud computing and ML / AI. He said that he has a vision of seeing Bangladesh as a blockchain nation. He also advised everyone to set up their minds to learn more about blockchain as a capacity development term. Dr. Md Sadek Ferdous also said that he has a vision to achieve a mid-term goal in line with the SDGs by 2030.
Khondokar Atique-e Rabbani stated on this topic that “Blockchain technology is a must to achieve centralization”. He also advised everyone to dive deep into blockchain technology to learn it from the very core as blockchain technology has enormous sections and potential and more use cases of blockchain can be discovered through blockchain. Every tech has both pros and cons but the cons can be annihilated or at least can be minimized through Governance. He said that he had a vision of seeing Bangladesh as a well aligned tech industry in the future.
Professor Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal agreed with the points of Khondokar Atique-e Rabbani and said that to make the nation stand with technologically advanced nations, we have to learn the latest technology and its use cases. Technology is the key to build a developed nation. And the current and future world will be controlled by science and technology.
Then Munir Hasan, founder of munirhasan Dot Com & General Secretary of BdOSN said that “Bangladeshi (Students) can achieve and do anything if they try hard and Robot Olympiad can be shown as an example as they achieve several medals in their first try in the international platforms''. He also added that hard work and effort is the only key to success.
Dr. Niaz Chowdhury ended the session by saying that learning blockchain technology will not only help to build a developed nation but will also help to build a secure career.
Session 03:
Sharing Experience of Blockchain Application: Bangladesh Use-case
Similarly, the same technology has been used in the country's mobile financial service means. These two experiences will be shared by the chief executives of their respective organizations.
