World Youth Skills Day

World Youth Skills Day 2020 will take place worldwide in a challenging context. The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown measures have led to the worldwide closure of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, threatening the continuity of skills development. Prior to the current crisis, On 15 July, Bangladesh Open Source Network will virtually celebrate the global celebrations to mark World Youth Skills Day (WYSD).
 
The aim of WYSD is to recognize the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship, and to highlight the crucial role of skilled youth in addressing current and future global challenges.

Objectives

  • To know from the girls whether they have taken any preparation for post corona.
  • To provide a concept about different types of jobs in COVID.
  • To guide them on entrepreneurship or freelancing jobs.
  • To facilitate networking with established entrepreneurs and freelancers.

Activities

Programming Contest

On this very special eve of the celebration, we are organizing a programming contest for TVET students. Only 200 participants will be allowed on a First Come First Serve (FCFS) basis and it will be an individual contest. So do hurry to grab this opportunity. Register Here
Mock Contest will be held on 11.07.2020 at 10.00 AM and will run for 6 hours.
National Contest will be held on 14.07.2020 at 03.00 PM and will run for 3 hours.
 
The top three contestants will be awarded a total of 15K BDT prize money.
Champion 7k BDT
First Runner Up 5K BDT
Second Runner Up 3K BDT
and for rank 4th to 10th, there will books.
 
Note: There will be no preliminary contest and the mock contest is just for practice and getting familiar with the online judge. In addition, you must be a polytechnic/TVET students in Bangladesh to participate.

Webinar

By focusing the day, several sessions will be arranged with the current students and job holders or entrepreneurs who studied from technical institutions. Besides, some success stories will be shared about those people who completed their studies from a technical institute but now are in a leading role in their workplace.

Bootcamp for TVET girls

Bangladesh Open Source Network and ESDG4Bd are going to arrange an online Bootcamp for TVET/Polytechnic students, especially for girls on Web and Mobile application development for 3 days. The running students can participate here because everything related to the topic will be discussed from the beginning. If you are a polytechnic student or completed your diploma degree then you are requested to register to join the online Bootcamp.
 
Date: 15, 16 and 17 July 2020
Time: 2 pm to 5 pm every day.
Only 30 participants will get this opportunity
The medium of Bootcamp: Zoom (Only selected participants will get the link by email)
