Women skilled in information technology can take Bangladesh to a unique height in the global market. Bangladesh can also be self-reliant. Establishment of equal participation of men and women in the workplace can be established. And for that purpose, Bangladesh Open Source Network is organizing various activities across the country.
In continuation of this, the three-day Grace Hopper Girls Programming Camp, a day-long ICT camp and a job-preparation workshop have been completed at Rangpur Engineering College in Rangpur Division. Rangpur Engineering College (REC) is affiliated by the University of Rajshahi. The camp was organized in collaboration with Rangpur Engineering College and Bangladesh Open Source Network. These programs are organized to give an idea of the huge potential that is open to graduate students in the information technology sector. A total of 65 women graduating students of Computer Science and Engineering Department and Information and Communication Department has participated in the three-day event.
The event began on September 23 with a two-day Grace Hopper Girls Programming Camp with the participation of a total of 30 students in Computer Science and Engineering. Students learned about the basic aspects of programming, from its initial application to its implementation, and participated in a programming contest on September 24. College Principal Nirad Baran Nath handed over certificates and certificates to the winners of the contest. Solaiman Ali, college registrar, and Dipanjan Das Dipto, head of computer science and engineering was present there.
On September 25, a job-preparation workshop was also held on the participation of undergraduate students studying in various subjects of the college. In the workshop, students learn about internships and the field of employment. Learn about internship requirements and requirements for entering a job. A total of 15 women students participated in the workshop.
The event concludes with a day-long ICT camp on September 26. Two sessions were held at the ICT camp. The first session was conducted by Ariful Islam Shaon, founder of Rangpur Source Initiative. He conducts sessions on web development, web design, graphics design, online marketing and illustrator. Although not studying science, the students got an idea about the huge use of information technology in the related work.
The second session was also organized by BDOSN's program co-ordinator, Muntasir Morshed. He discussed cyber security in the session. A total of 20 students participated in the ICT camp.
