We entered into a new decade where everything is going to be computerized. Upcoming 10 to 15 years will be a robot control era. To control this robot, we need to gain more and more problem-solving capability and have to increase our critical thinking ability. By thinking about all of this problem, Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) and Hamdard University of Bangladesh (HUB) jointly organized a Career Talk to give an idea to the students about the upcoming challenging world on Saturday, 11 January, 2020. In this talk a total 35 female undergraduate students were present there.
The Carrier Talk was held with a view to thinking about young people's future careers & the opportunities and scope of the female students in the ICT and Non-ICT sector where they can explore their potential. In this talk as chief guest Tanvir Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of HUB and as special guest Munir Hasan, founder of BDOSN was present there. Besides the head of department Engr. Md. Monowar Hossain and lecturer Polash Saha Department of CSE were also present there.
At the beginning, vice chancellor Tanvir Ahmed Khan introduce Munir Hasan with the students. He said Munir Hasan is a hard-working person who always thinks about doing something for the youth and did his work based on the welfare of youth. Because youth will be the future leader of the country. After that Munir Hasan, Head of Youth Programme of Prothom Alo and the general secretary of BdOSN presented his power point presentation on the topic ‘Innovation and Career for New Decade’. He started his speech with an example of facebook & uber that was like “Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, owns no vehicles. Facebook, the world’s most popular media owner, creates no content. Alibaba, the most valuable retailer, has no inventory. And Airbnb, the world’s largest accommodation provider, owns no real estate”. Then he focuses on the career path that is currently changing dramatically as global consciousness is presently linked to professionalism. The current trend of employment shows that half of the employment opportunity will disappear within the next few years due to digitalization. Creating new workplaces where there are only opportunities for technical work such as Big Data, Machine Learning, Block Chain, Cyber Security, Data mining or Artificial Intelligence only can bridge through this gap as the market will occupy around 1 crore jobs in the next 20 years.
