Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) keeps organizing ICT and computer programming camp in many different districts in Bangladesh. With the continuation of this awareness raising programs, it has been successfully organizing Grace Hopper Girls Programming Training Camp (GHGPTC) from 2015 in different parts of the country including Khulna, Chittagong, Dinajpur, Shariatpur, Mymensingh and Faridpur.

The Grace Hopper Girls Programming Training Camp (GHGPTC) teaches girls programming with hands-on activities and practices. Recently, BdOSN has organized a Grace Hopper Girls Programming Training Camp in Comilla. Starting on the 24th November with the presence of Anayat Hossain Rajib; the Joint Secretary of BdOSN, the 3 days long camp was held at the University of Bangladesh Army International and Science and Technology in the Comilla cantonment and has ended on the last 26^th. A total number of 40 participants participated in the camp and it was managed by 4 young and energetic maintainers. A programming competition was also arranged at the end of the camp.Moythry Manir Samia from ICT department of Comilla University became the proud winner.

A participant named Jakia Sultana said "Thank you to BdOSN for organizing such an effective programming training camp for us. I'm glad that I could participate in the camp and I hope there will be more camps like this for girls in the days ahead ".

BdOSN has a long-term plan to go with the same initiative at Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Sylhet, CoxBazar, Rangamati, Tangail, Barisal, Gajipur and Noakhali.

With its continuation of awareness building camps, BdOSN is going to organize Grace Hopper Girls Programming Training Camp in the University of Bangladesh Army International and Science and Technology in the Comilla cantonment. The 3-day long programming camp will start on the following 24th November and be continued to 26th of November.  The participants will get an opportunity for a hands-on activity with the algorithm and other related topics in the computer programming in these days.

                            Grace Hopper Girls Programming Training Camp in CIU

Grace Hopper Girls Programming Training Camp is a program under #missingdaughter initiative. The aim of this initiative is to bring more girls in the technology and ICT field and support them to overcome the fear with programming. The continuous effort is helping the community to build a women-generated group in the programming contest nationally and internationally.  

For example, in the ICPC of Dhaka site this year, 1666 girls teams have participated that was only 125 in the last year. Even the girls who just would attend the university programming classes now has come forward and started to break that chain.

BdOSN has a long vision to reach each and every girl from all over Bangladesh and support them to be in the ICT field as much as possible.

Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and ‘চাকরি খুঁজব না চাকরি দেব jointly organized the first ever Chief Struggling Officer (CSO) Summit on 19th November at Dhaka Retro. The motive was so the invitee entrepreneurs from different levels share their challenges and major struggling points faced in life with the audiences. A total number of 50+ participants made the event effective and successful.

The audiences, including novice entrepreneurs, in-business entrepreneurs or would-be entrepreneurs got an insight from the points raised and shared by the invitees today at the event. All of them shared the bitter experiences they faced to start, run and expand their entrepreneurial journey.

Some very insightful points were common in almost all the speakers’ stories shared today at the CSO Summit. These are:

• Take decision quickly
• Acquire relevant skills
• Keep your words and commitment
• Be honest in business exchange or transaction
• Maintain your personal relationship to smoothly run your business
• Focus! Focus! Focus!
• Don't count achievement unless it's 10 years

The Founder and CEO of eCourier.com.bd shared how he is still trying to manage his family and convincing them that his initiative is much better than a traditional job life. He set strength on maintaining a balanced life that will be beneficial to smoothly run the business.

The Managing Director of FM Industries Limited Gazi Touhidur Rahman shared how he was betrayed by his partner and immediately turned his disappointments into forming this plastic industry that already raised funds from venture capital and within 5 years is set to be enlisted into IPO. He emphasized on the quality product, honesty and right human resource selection.

The Managing Director of BD Venture also was there and inspired the audiences with his struggles of maintaining the human resources in an organized way that brought him to pay for it.

Apart from them, there were Munir Hasan, General Secretary of BdOSN, Minhaz Anwar, the Chief Storyteller of BetterStories Limited and the Head of GP Accelerator; Milky Mahmud, founder of Shajgoj.com and some other significant speakers shared their stories at the today’s event.

However, the audiences enjoyed the session and they admitted getting some very crucial points needed in their entrepreneurial life. Humaira Chowdhury said, ‘She enjoyed the CSO Summit and wished for more such event in the days ahead”.

Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) has organized a 3 day long computer programming training camp titled “Grace Hopper Girls Programming Camp” in 15 different areas in Bangladesh. The purpose of the camp is to motivate the girls in programming and evoke them to participate in the programing contest held both nationally and internationally. The 3 day long programming camp was inaugurated at Mymensing Freelance IT Academy. The second camp was held at Z.H. Sikder University of Science and Technology on 4^th November

A girl studying at high school or at a university was eligible to participate in the competition. The BdOSN’s program coordinator Mr. All Rabbi said,“ In spite of the increase of the girls’ enrollment in the educational institutions, their participation in the computer programming contest is rare. To overcome an unknown fear to participate in this competition and to make computer programming popular, we have arranged this Grace Hopper Computer Programming Camp’.

Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) celebrates its 11th anniversary on 29th October at Biswo Sahitto Kendro. The evening becomes cheerful and colorful with the presence of the organization's role players including respected general secretary, treasurer, program officer, program coordinator, core members, volunteers and well-wishers. The celebration starts at 6.00pm and continues still 9.00pm.

The world just witnessed another successful ICT event in Bangladesh that is ‘Digital World 2016’. The event has been organized for the 4th times with the presence of thousands of visitors from all walks of life. The event's slogan #NonstopBangladesh has created a buzz among the country people that led them to be a part of the country’s biggest ICT expo.

Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated the event on 19^th October at the International Convention City, Basundhara. 100 ICT experts and investors, 43 world famous speakers and thousands of people visited the mega ICT event.

The 3 day event was resounded with visitors from all walks of life. Students, professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers made the premise joyful and festive. The ICT division of Bangladesh organized this expo with the help of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Access 2 Information (A2i).

An interactive session has a strong interconnection with the participants’ performance readiness that can enable them to be cheerful leading to an intrinsic thirst to learn. The room 206 of the United International University (UIU) was the reflection of such touch off interaction between the participants and the workshop facilitator. Around 60 participants from all over Bangladesh took part in the previously announced workshop on ‘Artificial Intelligence’ (AI) on 22^nd October 2016 conducted by Dr. Ehsanul Hoque, assistant professor of Rochester University. The facilitator has recently been enlisted as "35 under 35" by MIT.

The participants were from a very diverse group of people, including students with different study background, university faculties, bankers, freelancers and researchers. This multi-professionals' presence has proven their interest to accept AI as a new challenge in their career.

The main perspective of the workshop was to explore and discuss the possible scopes and opportunities of AI in Bangladesh. Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and AI were the principle coverage of today’s workshop. Mr. Hoque could stimulate the participants successfully that was manifested by their active participation throughout the session. They came up with some very interesting ideas of how AI can be utilized in real life from Bangladeshi perspective. For example, some expressed using AI to teach the importance of body language in language learning while another shared using it to improve the accent of Bangla for the radio jockey.
