GIEBC - iii | Opening Ceremony

In our country there are so many girls and women who dreamed of building their own business empire but it is a matter of sorrow that they do not get any kind of help in planning or funding.  To help those women, BdOSN organised Girls Innovation Boot Camp. BdOSN always tries to present some real role models in front of the participants so that they can get inspired from them and can learn some strategy from them. On 24th June 2021, in the opening ceremony of vGIEBC as a guest, Sonia Bashir Kabir, Founder, SBK Tech Ventures & SBK Foundation; Nasima Akter Nisha, President, Women and e-Commerce forum (WE); Sinthia Sharmin Islam, CCO & Co-Founder, Shajgoj ltd; Shawkat Hossain, Managing Director, BD Venture and some others guests ware present during this opening ceremony. The event was hosted by Jahanara Amir, Project manager of Bangladesh Open Source Network and President of ESDG4BD Project and Munir Hasan, General Secretary of Bangladesh Open Source Network and President of ESDG4BD Project.

The session started with a speech from Shakhira Afroz, Assistant Program Officer of BdOSN. Ms. Shakira Afroz briefly discussed what GIEBC is in her speech and said that GIEBC started its journey in 2015 with just 25 female students and later it evolved into a 3 days residential camp and in the back end ESDG4Bd was there. 

Then Jahanara Amir invited the previous GIEBC participant to share their opinion and the journey of GIEBC.

Shawkat Hossain, the director of LightCastle Partners took the stage and shared his opinion through a presentation. He discussed the Opportunities and challenges of Entrepreneurship where he briefly discussed marketing, capability of entrepreneurs, Financial management, skilled human resources and infrastructure as a part of challenges and also shared real life examples to overcome those. He said, "if you want to scale up your business you have to follow these steps and rules''.

Ms. Jahanara invited Nasima Akter Nisha, President, Women and e-Commerce forum (WE) to share her opinion and feelings for the occasion. She advised everyone about networking and its importance. "No matter what your business is, you always have to be determined on how you can take it to the next level" said Ms. Nasima. You have to study a lot to know the rules and regulations to step your business up and GIEBC camp are such research sources.

Then Sonia Bashir Kabir, founder of SBK Tech Ventures was invited by Jahanara Amir. She thanked Mr. Shawkat Hossain and Ms. Nasima Akter Nisha for the amazing and knowledgeable speech they presented and Ms. Sonia started her speech by sharing her personal stories. She pointed two points-

"We females are always kept in shadows since childhood, we should always learn to be self independent and emotionally independent and take risks and don't be afraid to fail"

"'A bad workman quarrels with his tools', learn to work with your weakness and fear"

Sinthia Sharmin Islam, CCO & Co-Founder, Shajgoj ltd agreed to the points and said "Both male and female has to face a lot of problems and burdain while starting a business. The important part is not giving up"

Munir Hasan took the final floor and gave a recap on every topic that was discussed by the honourable guests. 

The Session closed by a small Q&A session with the guests and participants. It was a closed door session and it took place on ZOOM.
