A day-long STEM Fest-2025 was held in Rampal, Bagerhat to make students interested in science and technology.The festival, organized on Thursday (February 20) at the premises of Perikhali Model Secondary School in the upazila, included programming contests, science project exhibitions, robotics competitions and innovative idea poster presentations.
The festival was organized by the ‘Bangladesh Freedom Foundation’ under the project titled STEM & ICT Skills for Girls of Coastal Areas (SISGCA) to make students in coastal areas interested in acquiring information technology-based skills. More than two hundred students from seven schools in Bagerhat participated in it.The schools are Perikhali Model Secondary School, Barakatali Multipurpose Secondary School, Jhanjhania Secondary School, Sriphaltala Pilot Secondary School, Rampal Pilot Girls Secondary School, Dakra Multipurpose Model High School and Perikhali Dakhil Madrasa.
At this festival, students presented 16 science projects and 11 posters including Sustainable City, Drone, Flood Alarm System, Earthquake Detector, Fire Detector. The participating students presented their innovative ideas to the guests and presented examples of solving practical problems through technology.Among the guests present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Aftab Ahmed, Upazila Secondary Education Officer S. A. Anwarul Quddus, Educationists Sheikh Sultan Ahmed, Anadi Roy, Shankar Kumar Saha and Project Lead Shakhira Afroz Deepa.Assistant Commissioner Land Altaf Ahmed said that such an event will make students from remote areas interested in science and technology, especially girls, and will play a role in developing their innovative skills.At the end of the day, prizes were awarded to the winners and certificates to the participants. The organizers hope that such activities will further advance the students of coastal areas in the world of technology and innovation.
