Programming and Science sessions were conducted at Bara Katali Secondary School, Rampal, Bagerhat

On 9th August 2023, Programming and Science sessions were conducted at Bara Katali Secondary School, Rampal, Bagerhat, under the STEM & ICT Skills for the Girls of Coastal Area (SISGCA) project funded by Malala Fund in association with BdOSN. 46 students (32 female and 16 male) from classes 6 to 8 participated actively in these sessions.


The main objective of these sessions was to enable the students to keep pace with science and information technology. Students can increase the spread of scientific knowledge. The trend of education among students is decreasing due to various reasons. Girls lag far behind boys in science and information technology education in coastal areas. Due to various social reasons, village girls are being hindered from getting higher education. Skill will be gained by appearing in various practical tests of science subjects. Students can participate in various science competitions. Students will bring honor to the country by participating in various competitions in the country and abroad.

The Session was started with a welcome note and the session objectives and goals by Md. Rezaul Islam, Project Executive, BdOSN. The Programming session was conducted by Niaj Masud Rahat, Academic mentor of SCRATCH Bangladesh conducted the session. In the first 10 minutes of the workshop, he demonstrated the importance of programming and introduced the basic language of Programming- SCRATCH programming. He makes the students hands-on practice with the blocs and motions in a programming language.

The Science sessions were conducted by Mursalin Parvej, Academic mentor of SPS. He utilizes interactive teaching methods and group activities to make learning science enjoyable and engaging. They are informed about the introduction and basic use of the Microscope. Foster a curiosity and passion for science, encouraging students to explore the subject beyond the classroom and nurture a lifelong appreciation for learning science and technology. Science Olympiad exams are taken as part of their preparation for participating in the 9th BANGLADESH JUNIOR SCIENCE OLYMPIAD,2023. The importance of the Science Olympiad is explained, and guidelines are given for preparation at the national and international levels.


By the end of this session, students feel more eager to learn science studies differently and possess a positive attitude towards the subject.
