A career talk was held on 27 November, 2019 at the Banquet Hall of Daffodil International University with a view to thinking about young people's future careers and the opportunities and scope of the female students in ICT and Non ICT sector where they can explore their potential. It was jointly organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and Daffodil International University where 60 female participants from different departments of this university jointed together to attend to this event.

In this talk, Emrazina Islam, Founder of Emrazina Technologies, Tashfia Nabila Fareed, Business Analyst of SELISE and Rakshanda Rukham, founder of Preneur Lab exchanged their valuable ideas and own personal success stories with the female participants of Daffodil International University. At the beginning of the panel discussion,  Munir Hasan, Head of Youth Programme of Prothom Alo and the general secretary of BdOSN presented his power point presentation on the topic ‘Innovation and Career for Today and Tomorrow’ where he showed that career path is currently changing dramatically as global consciousness is presently linked to professionalism. The current trend of employment shows that half of the employment opportunity will disappear within the next few years due to digitalization. Creating new workplaces where there are only opportunities for technical work such as Big Data, Machine Learning, Block Chain, Cyber Security, Data mining or Artificial Intelligence only can bridge through this gap as the market will occupy around 1 crore jobs in the next 20 years. In such cases, women have to be prepared from now on - this is what Munir Hasan said.

Success stories along with facing different challenges from home to society throughout their career path were also discussed in the panel discussion by Emrazina Islam, Tashfia Nabila Fareed and Rakshanda Rukham. They shared their struggles to come to this position with the female participants. Tashfia Nabila Fareed said that women need to dismantle themselves from the social stigma and should drive for more by making themselves capable to work hard in a way that to be more skilled. The two other also inspired the participants by delivering their own ideas and thoughts.

In the age of information-technology, female students are given ideas about what kind of jobs would be occupied in the job market. This career talk was a comprehensive discussion of the skills that need to be developed as a way to prepare for the fourth industrial revolution.
