Bangladesh Open Source Network has been conducting Programming camps, workshops and other training events successfully. The resource persons, also known as Mentors play a significant role in the process. As BdOSN always focuses on preparing more resource persons, and making them skillful, it has organized a day-long Mentor Workshop on December 20, 2021. This workshop took place in Computer Services LTD Bangladesh, Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka where a total number of 26 mentors from different backgrounds participated.
The workshop was conducted by Mosaraf hossain Tipu, Program Officer, BdOSN, Maherul Azam Koreshi, Robotics and IOT Coordinator, BdOSN, and Jahanara amir, Project Manager, ESDG4BD, BdOSN. In the session, Mosaraf and Maherul Azam explained how the mentors and volunteers could contribute with BdOSN in the programming sector as well as in the field of robotics.
The workshop was conducted with the purpose of providing the participants a basic skill set to become an effective mentor. After the sessions the mentors seemed very enthusiastic about their work and wished to be an impactful mentor of the team. Most importantly, the mindset of taking ownership of own development, both personally and professionally have grown among them.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on how everyone can benefit from the community that is being served by BdOSN, conducted by Jahanara Amir. The session motivated the participants to work not only with BdOSN but also with other open source voluntary organizations.
“Mentors and volunteers are very interested to work with BdOSN and ESDG4Bd project. We can explore their potential by conducting more workshops and training programs.”- mentioned one of the resource persons of the workshop.
