BDOSN at Mymensingh Engineering College with Some Skill Development Programs in ICT

It is almost impossible to survive in the workplace without the acquisition of information technology based skills. Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) has been working to prepare female students for the job market from their education level. As part of this, the two-day CSE Carnival ended at Mymensingh Engineering College with the initiative of the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) and the Alpha Science Lab of Mymensingh Engineering College and College.

The two-day event included ICT workshops on machine learning and robotics in addition to programming contests, Rubix Cube contests, robot football, Robe races, and also a career seminar to prepare for the future job market. About two hundred college students participated in the two-day event. The finale of the carnival was announced on the afternoon of February 27th with a prize distribution. On the morning of February 26, 2020 an online programming competition was held, in which hundreds of students from the college's computer science and engineering department, including female students participated. They solve many complex problems by coding in this competition. On the last day of the event, an ICT camp was organized with the participation of about two hundred students from different departments. The camp was led by BDOSN's mentor Shahinur Rahman Khan.

Besides, Md. Alamgir Hossain, Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering spoke to the students. "In order to improve society, we need to improve ourselves, which has to start from now," he said. All these activities are being conducted under the 3 years long ESDG4BD project of the Bangladesh Open Source Network so that the students who are studying in Information Technology do not lag behind due to lack of proper skills and guidance.
