Call for Application: Program Officer/Assistant Program Officer

Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) is a non-profitable volunteer organization working to promote STEM & ICT skills among the youth, children, and female individuals across the country. BdOSN is inviting applications from suitable Bangladeshi nationals for the vacant position of Program Officer/Assistant Program Officer. Job Context

  • Position: Program Officer/Assistant Program Officer (Robotics/Drone/AI)
  • Job Location: Dhaka
  • Type of Contract: Contractual for 6 months with the possibility of extension on the basis of performance.

  • Accountable to: General Secretary, BdOSN
  • Joining Time: 1 February 2025

Job Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of the program related to robotics. The Program Officer (PO)/Assistant Program Officer (APO) will be the key to designing and planning robotics/drone-related programs, facilitating learning sessions, implementing and organizing events, monitoring activity risk and impact, documenting and archiving the program details, and submitting progress reports to the authority in time.

 Key Areas of Accountability include (not limited to)

     1. Planning and Designing

  • Planning and developing program ideas relevant to robotics/drone/AI, detailing out the work plan, defining the program scopes, and forecasting the possible budget flow.
  • Tracking progress of planned activities on a regular basis.

     2. Implementation and Coordination

  • Provide technical and logistic support to implement the planned activities as per requirement.
  • Facilitate and coordinate trainings and workshops.
  • Frequent field visits based on a plan to supervise the program implementation.
  • Organize regular team meetings to find the program scope and opportunity and be responsible for preparing the meeting agenda and meeting minutes.

     3. Communication, Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain close communication with the program audience, educational institutions, relevant partners, donors, and other stakeholders to ensure their support to meet the organization's need.
  • Prepare program completion report.
  • Coordinate with other teams when needed, i.e. procurement team, other program-implementing teams, etc.
  • Oversee the digital platforms of robotics, i.e., social media and websites, and update them on a regular basis.

Required Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree (Masters) in EEE/Robotics & Mechatronics/CSE or any other relevant field.
  • Freshers with extensive knowledge and skills in robotics/drone/AI are encouraged to apply.
  • Professional or voluntary experience in robotics/drone/AI-relevant activities would be an advantage.

Required Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of robotics, drones, electronics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other robotics components is required.
  • Knowledge of the latest programming language.
  • Understanding of machine learning models, AI technologies, and algorithms for planning AI-relevant programs.
  • Basic knowledge of drone hardware, software, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to identify challenges and develop innovative solutions within the scope of robotics, drones, and AI programs.
  • Good at communication, both in Bangla and English.
  • Good at teamwork, rapport building, and coordination with key stakeholders is mandatory.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. 

Salary & Other Benefits

A monthly consolidated salary of BDT. 25,000-30,000 with 1 festival bonus will be offered to the deserving candidate.
