As part of the SISGCA programme, the Robotics-4 conference was held on 8-9 May 2024 at Naihati Girls High School and Comrade Ratan Sen Collegiate Girls High School Rupsha, Khulna.
This project, funded by the Malala Fund in collaboration with BdOSN, aim to close the gender gap in education and empower girls in coastal areas. These activities are attended in grades 6-8. A total of 65 students, both boys and girls, participated in the class. The main purpose of the conference is to stimulate interest in science and technology and to create an environment that encourages learning and creativity. SISGCA's mission recognizes the gender disparity in education in the coastal region and girls' lack of access to science and technology education, and aims to remove barriers to rural girls furthering their education.
Md. Rezaul Islam, the Project Coordinator for SISGCA, commenced the session with a warm welcome. The presence of Regional Mahmud Hossain Sovon and Program Executive Shahriar Parvez Shaon underscored the importance of the program. The robotics workshop was informative under the supervision of M O B Jihad, Assistant Co-Ordinator of World Robot Olympiad. Students learned the nuances of creating a line-following robot and the coding process. They showcased their expertise, paving the way for their future pursuits in technology. They also touched upon the upcoming science fair, aiding students in preparing to confidently present their projects.
The SISGCA project in these schools shines a light on students by encouraging them to embrace science and technology. As these young people begin their education, the impact of this program can be beneficial in transitioning to coastal areas, closing the gender gap in education, and providing support for tomorrow.
