Having a strong personal brand that sells oneself as a tech enthusiast will help professionally and personally in the fast-moving, rapidly growing tech sector. There are a ton of different ways to land a dream career, but they all start with positioning an way of promoting oneself.
Against this backdrop, on 18th November 2021, BdOSN organized an online session ‘Personal Branding for Future Female Tech Leaders’ for female students to demonstrate how important their personal brand is and this is one of the reasons why it is hard for them to get a job even they have great skills.
This online session was graced by Md. Altamis Nabil, Author, Tech Evangelist, Digital Service Professional & Social Activist. He is also working as Biz-Engagement lead at bdapps. He conducted so many training and workshops on personal branding and used to write regularly on Cinema, Entertainment, Technology, and Travelling on several news media.
The session was conducted by the Project Manager of the ESDG4Bd Project of Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN).
Md. Altamis Nabil started the session by saying, “There is no established science or method by sensing the philosophy you need to find your best fit”. He also said that a brand can be a name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one’s good or service as distinct from its competitors.
Md. Altamis Nabil identified a brand with three segments: Name, Logo, and Value proposition.
“Your personal brand is the perception that people have you as compared to others in similar positions,” said Md. Altamis Nabil. He also added that It is hard to stand out in today’s job market where personal branding can help you differentiate from the rest and unlock almost 80% of hidden job opportunities with personal branding.
He also discussed the difference between marketing and branding.
“Three steps of personal branding- Discover yourself, Differentiate yourself, & Show your brand” Sa. He also discussed the term Ikigai & Social media Netiquette.
He quoted, “branding is not about self-promotion, it is about self-differentiation”.
This online session was organized only for female students from different universities and colleges.
