Mental health sessions were held at Barakatali ML Model High School and Perikhali Model Secondary School in Rampal, Bagerhat. The session was led by Md. Bariul Islam, a Clinical Psychologist from Moner Bondhu. He began by greeting the students and ensuring their attention was directed towards the upcoming discussion.
The focus of this session was to recognize the common mental health issues faced by adolescents, which include emotional disturbances stemming from both physical and mental transitions, impulsivity, stress, depression, anxiety, anger, insufficient support, relationship difficulties, and ineffective coping mechanisms. The session featured organized group discussions aimed at exploring personal strategies for maintaining mental health. Furthermore, practical coping strategies were introduced, emphasizing the importance of building strong support networks and utilizing various psychological techniques such as positive thinking, self-affirmation, relaxation, and actively seeking professional help. Participants were encouraged to seek initial support and to promote peer assistance. The conversation also highlighted community initiatives aimed at enhancing suicide prevention efforts. Additionally, participants received the Moner Bondhu hotline number, which provides immediate access to professional support.
