From Shore to Success Empowering Coastal Area Girls in Tech: Bara Katali Secondary School, Rampal, Bagerhat

An inspiring Meet the Role Model session titled "From Shore to Success: Empowering Coastal Area Girls in Tech" motivated students from Bara Katali Secondary School, Rampal, Bagerhat to pursue their aspirations via education and technology. The seminar, conducted on October 10, 2023, aims to inspire and assist these young minds to reach their potential and make significant contributions to society.

 

The seminar's objectives were to:

  1. Promote Timely Education: Encourage students to embrace modern technology to enhance their learning experiences and manage their time efficiently.
  2. Real-Life Awareness: Make students aware of the real-life challenges and opportunities they may encounter daily.
  3. Prepare for the Future Workplace: Provide guidance and insights to help students develop essential skills for a successful future career.

The event's keynote speaker was Kaniz Fatema, an accomplished professional with a diverse and extensive career, who has held several critical roles in the tech and telecommunications industry. She served as the Director at Bangladesh Women In Technology (BWIT), where her contributions played a pivotal role in advancing gender diversity in the technology sector. Prior to that, Kanij Fatema served as the General Manager at Robi Axiata Limited, a prominent telecommunications company. Her leadership and expertise were also evident during her tenure as the Head of Data, Device, and Digital Marketing at Grameenphone Ltd. Currently, she holds the esteemed position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Bangladesh Open Source Network-BdOSN, where her leadership continues to make a significant impact on the tech community. Her presence and knowledge made an unforgettable impression on the children. For the students to establish themselves and be successful in their future activities, Kanij Fatema provided a road plan.

The seminar commenced at 10:00 AM with a welcoming speech by Mahbub Ul Islam Khan, the Project Coordinator of "STEM & ICT Skills for the Girls of Coastal Area," which is generously funded by the Malala Fund.

Throughout the seminar, 52 Female and 17 Male students actively participated, showing a genuine interest in the insights and experiences shared by the speakers. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn were evident, leaving a positive impression on all attendees.

This event marks a significant step in empowering the youth of coastal areas with the knowledge and motivation they need to excel in an increasingly digital world. It reinforces the idea that education and technology can be powerful tools for transforming lives and communities.
