Hour of Code (hourofcode.com) is the international programme to promote programming among the school going students. It was initiated in 2013 and celebrated worldwide in the international computer science week to held from 8-14 December every year. The idea is to celebrate an hour-long programming event to inspire the students, children or anyone for programming.
This year, BdOSN partnering with Shikkok dot com, Cloud System, Himu Poribohon, Dimik Comuting School and ISOC has taken an initiative to expand the mission of Hour of Code in different districts as well as in multiple high schools in different parts in the country. Bangladesh Open Source Network arranged a day-long event of “Hour Of Code” at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro on 8th December. There were 2 mentors conducting the segment. 30 people attended the event, ranging from primary school students to university. The event started with an introduction with the basic understanding of computer programming. Then various games that are available on code.org website were played by the participants in the event. Some problems and mathematical terms were also solved by programming in the event.
A girl from 4th grade told that she really enjoyed the event and she already said to her mother that she would continue learning to code and be a programmer. She also told that she learned a lot of things from the segment and thanked BdOSN for organizing Hour Of Code.
