About Luna Shamsuddoha

Ms. Luna Shamsuddoha is the Chairman of Dohatec. She secured Masters in International Relations and began teaching English at the British Council, and as a Lecturer at Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka. She started business in 1985 as Managing Partner of The Executive Centre. She worked as a Co-reporter for Australia Broadcasting Corporation, ABC. She is a software entrepreneur and Chairman, since 1992, of Dohatec New Media, a CMMI Level 3 company. She is the Managing Director of Global Voice Telecommunication Limited, an International Gateway Company. As Chairman, she leads the management team and is responsible for overseas marketing, quality and emerging technology, Project Implementation of overseas contracts. She has received recognition for her path breaking work internationally. Dohatec provides Software Solutions and services for international clients like The World Bank, World Health Organization, US Postal Service. She received two International Awards for Software by Swiss Interactive Media and Software Association (SIMSA) in 2005 in Basel, Switzerland. She was involved in the development of Voter enrolment solution and biometric de-duplication with Bangladesh Army in 2007 – 20008 national election. She was recognized at the inauguration of Microsoft’s Global Partners Conference WPC 2007 in Denver, for her achievements in the international software Industry. Her firm developed the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system and operations for Bangladesh and Royal Government of Bhutan. Her copyright solutions in the data management space, has been used by the World Bank Headquarters and other international organization for over decade. She is the Founder President of Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT), Member of Council Global Thought Leaders on Inclusive Growth Switzerland, Trustee Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), Trustee Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs (UCEP) Bangladesh, Director SME Foundation and former Director Agrani Bank Limited. She is a member of Global Advisory Council of Think through Consulting (‘TTC’) India. Her endowment offers scholarships and supports cultural activities. She is founder member of Bangladesh Business Magazine. She is member of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, MCCI, AMCHAM, SBCCI and BEF. Her International acknowledgements among others are Femina World Women Leadership Congress Super Achiever Award 2017, and Honorary Leadership Award 2013 - Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network (GWIIN) Award. He worked for International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research for four years as Senior Cost Officer. He is also the Member of Board of Directors at BD Venture Limited. Mr. Hossain has completed his Masters in Development Management from Asian Institute of Management, Manila, Philippines in 1994, where he received an ADB scholarship. He is a Fellow of Cost & Management Accountant of Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh.

About Mr. Munir Hasan

Munir Hasan is an information technology consultant and open-source software activist. After graduating from Bangladesh University of Science and Technology, he worked there for more than a decade. Later on he moved into Prime Minister’s Office as ICT consultant and eventually to Ministry of Science and Information & Communication Technology of Bangladesh Government. Currently he is working as Head of Youth program at ProthomAlo, the largest daily newspaper in Bangladesh. He is also the Secretary of Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee, and helped to reach the event in the way it is now. As the secretary of Bangladesh Open Source Network, he is working on promoting Bengali Wikipedia since 2005. In 2008 he achieved the prestigious Ashoka Fellow in response to his contribution to changing the way math is taught and understand.

In September 2017, Sayeda Nabila Mahabub left her job at a multinational company to work for a home grown start-up, Pathao. As the Head of Marketing at Pathao, Nabila has formed and led a dynamic marketing team of 24 talented individuals.

When she joined Pathao, the company only offered bike sharing service in the country’s capital - Dhaka. Eventually, Pathao expanded its service portfolio in multiple cities within Bangladesh and internationally with Pathao Food, Car, Parcel and became the country's fastest growing start-up with a valuation over $100M. Throughout the rapid growth of Pathao, Nabila has led her team to carry out marketing and PR activities efficiently and ensured brand visibility, user acquisition, and retention for business growth. She has worked extensively throughout her tenure to increase the brand value of the company.

Nabila emphasizes on being customer centric while working at the service industry. Samira Zuberi Himika is the MD of Giga Tech. She has worked in the United Nations Development Program after finishing her Master’s degree in Development Studies from Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). She was also the Deputy head of BBC World Service Trust, Bangladesh. Himika was one of the main people behind a project named GP House Art Hub which was the first curated art hub for any multi national company in Bangladesh. After spending 5-6 years working in the NGO sector, Himika decided to start her own venture-Team Engine.

Team engine supports policy makers, the Government, Private Sector entities and individuals by connecting them with the right entities and launching their campaigns-in simple terms, its a communication and campaign hub for social good. Starting her entrepreneural journey was not easy, it involved high risks and challenges. In recent years her organization has been working on projects using a “partnership model” by partnering with government and other organizations who share similar interests in certain projects.

Himika’s biggest strength in launching her own venture definitely has to be her strong portfolio of working for several top international organizations and NGOs. She had a rich network in these areas and strong networking means faster progress for your start-up.

Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun

About Dr. Mamun

Khondaker A. Mamun received his Ph.D. in Computer and Biomedical Engineering from University of Southampton, UK. After that he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the PRISM Lab with joint appointment from Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (IBBME), University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada and Bloorview Research Institute, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Toronto, Canada. He also worked as a lecturer and then assistant professor in the Department of CSE, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology from 2002 to 2007, and as a researcher in the College of Computer and Information Science, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia from 2007 to 2008. Since October 2014, he is working as an Associate Professor and then Professor at the Department of CSE, United International University (UIU), Bangladesh. He is the founder and Director of Advanced Intelligent Multidisciplinary Systems Lab (AIMS Lab) at UIU, where he actively performs research in areas of machine learning, intelligent System, healthcare, disabilities and education as well as human machine interface (HMI), brain computer interface (BCI), rehabilitation engineering, and mobile technology for health care and rehabilitation applications. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed international journal and conference papers. He has invented a number of digital healthcare and rehabilitations service delivery architecture and mobile based solutions for developing countries. His research and innovation has also been featured in a number of local and international news outlets including New Scientist and BBC.

His contribution in the innovation and development is recognized internationally and by the government of Bangladesh. He is the founder of CMED Health, a startup that focuses on preventive and primary healthcare through ICT. CMED Health is the Winner of DBS-NUS Social Innovation 2018 (Singapore), SeedStarWorld Global Innovation 2018 (Switzerland), Bangladesh Innovation 2018, BASIS National ICT 2017, Startup Challenge 2017 and GP Accelerator 2016 Award. He also received National ICT and APICTA Awards for Autism Barta (Smart Phone App for Autism Screening) and Bolte Chai (Smart Phone App for enhancing communications for nonverbal children).

He is the organizer and general chair of the first medical engineering conference, MediTec 2016 (International Conference of Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology) in Bangladesh supported by IEEE EMBS. He is also the organizer and chair of the first International Neuroscience School (IBRO APRC 2017) to develop future neuroscience researcher in Bangladesh, sponsored by International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). With the IBRO support, Prof. Mamun has introduced first Deep Brain Stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s patients in Bangladesh through National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital with active support from Prof. Tipu Z. Aziz, University of Oxford, UK.

He is a member of the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB), IEEE; Founder Chair, EMBS Bangladesh section; Fellow, Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS).
