Open House Day is an event under Girls In ICT where girls are taken to visit IT service company, software development company, call center, development etc to make girls more interested in ICT. There was a visit to Grameenphone House the leading mobile operator company in the Bangladesh on 5th April 2017.
30 girls Participated in the event. The participants learned how Grameenphone works and manage their work. They invited the participants to join Grameenphone when their study is complete.
Mahila Momtaz Islam a participant of Open House Day in Grameenphone said"I'm using the Grameen phone for a long time and didn't know all this work requires for an operator to run. It's really interesting"
Bangladesh Open Source Network joined International Girls In ICT Day with Women In Digial since 2015. Since then It is organizing many events to celebrate this day. Open House Day is a part of International Girls In ICT Day celebration. 27 Girl visited Grameenphone Rajshahi office on 14th May 2017.
Head of Marketing, Rajshahi Circle Sohel Mahmud welcome the students. Circle Business Head Touhid R. Talukder Sohel briefs on telecom market, future of telecom market, GP’s practices and prospects for students in ICT and telecom sector. From Technology team Kazi Ziaur Rahman shares the scopes and opportunities for the engineering students in telecom market. Head of P&O, Shahidul Hoque Milky gives necessary tips and advice to the students on how they can prepare themselves for their future career in ICT and telecom industry. MFS Head Mishu Ashraf gives a brief on MFS market and MFS products. Gratitude to all of GP Rajshahi circle Management for extending their support in such a great initiative.
The participants had a great day. They thanked Bangladesh Open Source Network for opening such a wonderful way to experience professionalism.
Since 2005, Raj IT Solution Limited is the largest IT farm of North Bengal and providing IT service all over the Bangladesh.
There was an Open House Day visit on Raj IT Solution Limited on 18th May 2017. Open House Day is a basically an office visit in order to get practical experience from professionals. Bangladesh Open Source Network organized it to celebrate International Girls In ICT Day. There was a total number of 55 girls participating the visit. The visit was mentored by Kanta Kaniz.
There is more event like Open House Day such as Bootcamp, Workshop, Roundtable Discussion and much more.
The International Girls in ICT in Bangladesh has been celebrated by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) with different initiatives and programs. The ICT Career Talk aims to motivate the young university students to come forward in the ICT Sectors and take the lead of the ICT world.
To achieve such, Rajshahi University hosted an ICT Career Talk at the Conference Room, Central University on April 29, 2017 at 10.00am to 13.00pm.
There were some very resourceful people in the session who shared their experiences with the audiences and motivated the girls to take ICT as a career.
Among many, there were Professor Md. Khademul Islam Molla, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Director of ICT Center, University of Rajshahi who moderated the session and Munir Hasan, Coordinator, Youth Programme at Prothom Alo and General Secretary, Bangladesh Open Source Network – BdOSN as Keynote Speaker.
Both of them demonstrate a great passion in promoting ICT among the girls and women in Bangladesh. Apart from them, there were 4 speakers named Kaniz Fatema, Head of Data & Device, Rajshahi Circle, Grameenphone Limited, Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, Lecturer, Department of Humanities, RUET, Shaikh Jannatul Moushumy, Admin & HR Executive, raj IT Solutions Ltd and Nahida Parvin, Freelancer and Entrepreneur, Director, IT Solution Dinajpur.
A total number of 80 participants from RU, RUET, Rajshahi Government College and Varendra Univeristy.
The participants were enthusiastic attending the session and they thanked to the organizing team for such a great initiative.
This year, BdOSN has been celebrating International Girls in ICT extensively in and outside Dhaka. In a row of 9 Career Talks, the 7th Career Talk held in Comilla on 23rd May 2017 at Bangladesh army International University of Science & Technology (BAIUST).
170 students from different departments including 85 girls attended the session. The session started at 3.00 pm at the University auditorium. The Career Talk was started with the Welcome Speech by Golam Moktadir Nayeem, Associate Professor & Head of CSE Dept. The honorable Chief guest Brig Gen Ilyas Iftekhar Rasul, ndc,psc (Retired), Vice Chancellor ofBangladesh army international University of Science & Technology, deliver his inspirational and Motivational Speech.
After their inspirational speeches, the session was conducted by two resourceful people. The Keynote Speaker of the session was Kazi Hassan Robin, Sr. Assistant Professor & Head
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, World University and Sazzad Hossain Khan, Software Engineer in Btech Solution Private Ltd. & Bosundohara Group.
After ending the program, Golam Mokadir nayeem gives momento to the speakers and Kazi Hassan Robin reprsenting BdOSN gave crest to Golam Moktadir Nayeem, Head, dept of CSE for hosting the program.
Bagdoom, one of the largest e-commences in Bangladesh hosted an Open House Day on 25th of May 2017.
BdOSN, as a part to celebrate International Girls in ICT has arranged 9 visits at different companies including BRAC, Grameen Phone, Genex and JoomShaper.
However, around 19 women from different universities visited Bagdoom today. The team Bagdoom accompanied the visitors to different departments and explained each of these activities and strategies.
The CMO of the company Mr. Mirajul Huq shared the stories of the beginning, their journey and learning and experiences gained over the years of the company management.
One of the participants named Mahbuba Munmun shared that 'I had a long cherished dream to build a platform like this. After visiting this company, I have gained a huge ideas on this field. Thanks to BdOSN for their wonderful efforts to get us introduced with various companies'.
Starting in 2002, today's FIFO Tech has gone through many ups and downs. Over a course of mistakes, experiences and learning, the company now has created a direct employment for more that 200.

Around 18 women from different universities went to the last visit of Open House Day for this year on 25th of May 2017Last . The participants became remarkably motivated and thanks to the both organizations for such opportunity.
The program officer of BdOSN Sharmin Kabir says, the journey of Open House Day was very experimental and a story of acocmplishment. We are grateful to the companies gave us the opportunity to visit and created a path to go forward with the vision of engaging our young girls in the ICT sectors.
As a part to celebrate International Girls in ICT, an intensive Career Talk was arranged on April 29, 2017 at RUET Auditorium, Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology
A total number of 130 participants actively attended the seminar. The university students from Rajshahi University, RUET, Rajshahi Government College and Varendra University attended the event and squeezed the highest benefit from it.
A pool of relevant professionals presented as speakers and shared their valuable experiences with the audiences. The event was moderated by Professor Md. Khademul Islam Molla, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Director of ICT Center, University of Rajshahi. Mr. Munir Hasan, Coordinator, Youth Programme at Prothom Alo, General Secretary, Bangladesh Open Source Network – BdOSN was present as Keynote Speaker & Chief Guest in the session. Kaniz Fatema, Head of Data & Device, Rajshahi Circle, Grameenphone Limited and Akhtar Zaman, Chief Executive, raj IT Solutions Ltd were present as speakers.
The 2.5 hour long Career Talk was fruitful enough to inspire the young participants to have an overall view in the ICT Career. The session was effective enough for mutual sharing and learning.
