Bangladesh will participate in the Asia-Pacific Regional Open Championship organized by the World Robot Olympiad (WRO). To select the final team for this event, the national round of the competition was held today with 26 participating teams. The day-long event took place at the Dhanmondi office of Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), starting at 10 AM. It was jointly organized by BdOSN and World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh (WROBD).
The international championship will be held across four different categories. From Bangladesh, four teams will participate in three of these categories. Among them, two teams will be selected for the Future Innovators category, one team for the Future Engineers category, and one team for the RoboSports category.
The national round was announced on June 14, and registration remained open until June 30. During this period, 15 teams registered for the Future Innovators category, 9 teams for the Future Engineers category, and 2 teams for the RoboSports category.
In the Future Innovators category, competitions were held in two divisions. Eight teams competed in the Junior Division and seven teams in the Senior Division. One team from each division , a total of two teams will be selected to represent Bangladesh in the international round.
In addition, World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh (WROBD) organized 14 activation programs throughout June to encourage students to participate in the Robotics Olympiad. These workshops were held at various public and private universities across five districts, with around 2,000 students taking part.
The national round began with the Future Innovators category competition, followed by a practice round for the Future Engineers category starting at 2 PM. At 4 PM, the RoboSports category competition took place, and the day concluded with the final round of the Future Engineers competition in the evening.
The names of the winning teams will be announced soon after proper evaluation. As per the guidelines of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), each team consists of 2 to 3 members and one coach. The selected teams from this competition will represent Bangladesh at the World Robot Olympiad Asia-Pacific Open Championship 2025, to be held in the Philippines.
