Robotics on the Road: WRO 2025 Activations in Chattogram Division

The journey of robotics has taken an exciting turn this year as a dedicated team from Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) set off on a cross-country tour to promote and activate the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Bangladesh 2025. In an effort to promote robotics education and inspire young people to compete in one of the most prominent international robotics contests, the team set out on a tour of Bangladesh's southeast on May 26.

The first stop on this outreach journey was Chittagong Independent University (CIU), where an engaging WRO activation session was successfully hosted. The session was spearheaded by Dr. Aseef Iqbal, BdOSN’s Chattogram Division Director for the Robotics Program, and was supported by a dynamic team including Maherul Azam Koreshi, Israfil Shaheen, Arannya Jahidul Islam Nihal, and Mohammed Sadul Alam.

The activation brought together students from a range of institutions like schools, colleges, and universities, offering them a glimpse into the excitement and challenge that WRO 2025 promises. Through hands-on demonstrations, interactive discussions, and informative presentations, participants learned about the competition structure, this year’s theme, and how they can form teams to take part.

The enthusiasm was palpable as students expressed their curiosity and passion for robotics, technology, and innovation. Many shared that it was their first exposure to such an international platform, and they were eager to explore further.

With the successful completion of the CIU session, the team is now on the road to Ramu Cantonment English School and College, where another activation and workshop session is scheduled 27 May. This will be followed by a stop in the scenic coastal town of Cox’s Bazar, bringing the message of robotics and STEM education to more young learners in the region.

Following the Cox’s Bazar event, the team will return briefly to Dhaka for a stopover, regroup, and then set out for Saidpur in northern Bangladesh. This comprehensive outreach reflects BdOSN’s mission of ensuring equal access to robotics education across all corners of the country, not just in major cities, but also in remote and underrepresented regions.

The ongoing WRO activation tour is more than just a series of events, it’s a movement to ignite curiosity, nurture creativity, and foster collaboration among Bangladesh’s youth. BdOSN believes that robotics can be a powerful tool for building future-ready skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and technological fluency. The 2025 season of WRO promises to be bigger and better, and with each activation session, more students are being empowered to dream, design, and develop robots that solve real-world problems.
