Over 200 Students Join Robotics Activation at BAUST Saidpur

Despite continuous rain, more than 200 school students turned out to participate in a robotics awareness event at the Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST), Saidpur, Nilphamari, in an inspiring show of enthusiasm. The program was a part of the Bangladesh Open Source Network's (BdOSN) week-long nationwide activation campaign to encourage young students to take an interest in robotics.

The activation series had already made its way to Dhaka, Chattogram, Ramu, and Cox's Bazar earlier in the week, and the Saidpur event was its last stop. The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of robotics, available tools and platforms, and how to begin developing real-world solutions in light of the growing interest in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO).
Discussions were lively, and participants asked insightful questions like "How can we start building from scratch?" "What are the real benefits of learning robotics?" and "How does AI relate to robotics?" With a combination of lectures and practical demonstrations, the session was intended to be very interactive.
Prof. Dr. Jahangir Alam, Volunteer Director of BdOSN Rangpur Division, oversaw the event's execution. Students had the chance to work with actual robotics parts and discover how different motors, sensors, and controllers combine to form intelligent machines.
Brig Gen. Mohammad Mobarak Hossain Majumder, BAUST's vice chancellor, was the main guest, which increased the significance of the occasion. In his speech, he emphasized the value of education that is future-focused and urged the students to pursue technology with zeal and purpose.
University students attended a special training workshop later in the day with the goal of preparing them to serve as future mentors and coaches for school robotics teams. By competing in specific WRO categories, these university participants can forge a close connection between robotics programs in schools and higher education.
In order to facilitate students' long-term skill development, BdOSN is currently setting up regional AI and Robotics Centers throughout the nation. There are currently several centers in operation, including ones in Chattogram and Saidpur. These centers seek to provide everyone with access to technology education that is prepared for the future.
BdOSN extends an invitation to individuals and organizations that are interested in becoming partners, mentors, or sponsors of this movement. By actively engaging in science and technology, they hope to empower the upcoming generation of innovators.
