The School of Science & Engineering (SSE) of Chittagong Independent University (CIU) accomplished an important milestone on June 25, 2025. Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and SSE, CIU formally entered into a strategic relationship that promises to improve STEM education and technical innovation.
The MoU was officially signed by Dr. Aseef Iqbal, Dean of SSE, on behalf of CIU, and Mr. Maherul Azam, representing BdOSN. The signing ceremony was graced by the virtual presence of Mr. Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN, and the physical presence of CIU's Registrar, both underscoring the shared commitment to this transformative collaboration.
A robotic kit was given out as a symbolic gesture to kick off this collaboration, indicating a common goal of giving young people the skills they need to be creative, innovative, and problem-solving. SSE faculty members and the deans of every other CIU school enthusiastically attended the event, demonstrating the university's support for this progressive endeavor. In addition to promoting robotics, engineering education, and an innovative mindset among students nationwide, our collaboration seeks to support and enhance the World Robot Olympiad, Bangladesh (WROBd) initiative.
Mr. Munir Hasan, president of BdOSN, joined virtually, offered perceptive comments regarding the intended objectives of and significance of the Memorandum of Understanding. In her speech, CIU's Honorable Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the university's commitment to producing a generation prepared for the future.
This partnership is the start of an exciting journey that will develop the next generation of innovators, builders, and thinkers.
