BdOSN Reveals Bangladesh Team to Compete in the 27th International Robot Olympiad in Australia

The Bangladesh team is set to participate in the 27th International Robot Olympiad (IRO), scheduled to be held from December 17 to 21, 2025, in Gold Coast, Australia.

This year’s national selection process was organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN). The online preliminary round took place on August 29–30, followed by the national round of IRO Bangladesh Open 2025, held on September 12–13 at the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka. Winners from the Creative Movie, Creative Category, and Physical Computing divisions advanced to the international selection camp, where students’ performances were assessed based on multiple criteria. The most qualified participants were then chosen to represent Bangladesh at the International Robot Olympiad.

The members of Team Bangladesh for the 27th IRO are Zubaidah Zafreen and Nafia Bashar Suhani from Mohammadpur Preparatory School & College, Mohammad Zarif Bin Salek, Khondokar Mushfiqul Islam, and Mohammed Mashrur Arefin Bhuiyan from Dhaka Residential Model College, Nusaiba Tazreen Tanisha from YWCA Higher Secondary Girls’ School, Zaima Jahin Wara from William Carey Academy, Priyanti Das from Scholastica, Ridwan Rabbani from Ideal School and College, and Mohammad Abdullah Al Titu from Ananda Mohan College. The team will be coached by Mishal Islam, chief robotics coach of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, and M Tanzeem Al Islam Dibosh as assistant Coach. A A Munir Hasan, President of Bangladesh Open Source Network, will serve as the Team Leader. In addition, as a member of the International Robot Olympiad Central Committee, Professor Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, University of Dhaka will also attend the event.

Bangladesh has been participating in the International Robot Olympiad since 2018. Over the past seven years, the Bangladeshi team has won 73 medals, including 14 gold medals, bringing pride to the nation.

The participation of Team Bangladesh in this year’s international competition is sponsored by the ICT Division and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DoICT) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
