BdOSN Hosts National Selection Round of the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO) 2026

The Bangladesh national selection round of the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO) 2026 was held on Saturday (11 October 2025) at the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), University of Dhaka. Organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), the competition brought together talented students from across the country to participate in a five-hour Kaggle-based challenge focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision.

The event was open to students from Grade 6 to HSC 2025 candidates and 4th semester polytechnic students, offering them a unique opportunity to demonstrate creativity and technological skills by solving real-world problems.

Selected participants from this national round will advance to the upcoming IAIO Grooming Camp, where they will receive world-class training and mentorship. Later, along with the direct qualifiers from the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BdAIO), the finalists will represent Bangladesh 🇧🇩 in the International IAIO 2026 to be held in Slovenia.

On the competition day, reporting began at 8:00 AM, followed by the contest launch at 9:00 AM. The event concluded at 2:00 PM.

It is worth noting that last year, Bangladesh made its debut on the global IAIO stage in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, earning two silver and two bronze medals—a remarkable milestone in advancing AI and technology education in the country. Building on that success, the Bangladesh team is preparing with renewed determination to achieve even greater accomplishments this year.
