The WRO Bangladesh Mentorship Program officially commenced on April 19, 2025, with a comprehensive training session conducted by Jonas Zagatta, Project Manager of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), held at the Creative IT Institute in Dhaka. The event marked the formal launch of a nationwide initiative aimed at equipping mentors with essential tools to guide and inspire the next generation of robotics talent in Bangladesh.
Mr. Zagatta led the training with a focus on practical mentoring techniques designed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in young learners. Drawing from his global experience, he emphasized the importance of building supportive learning environments and outlined strategies for encouraging innovation among students preparing to compete on international platforms. His energetic sessions showed the significance of upcoming technological shifts and the urge to get adapted to this tide.
The initiative is organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), with support from WRO and sponsorship from Aramco, which has designated Bangladesh as a focus country in its global campaign to promote STEM education and robotics.
The session brought together a dynamic mix of mentors, students, and institutional partners, all united by a shared vision of empowering youth through technology. Participants engaged in interactive discussions and collaborative exercises, fostering a strong sense of community and purpose.
Jonas Zagatta’s guidance set the tone for the program, inspiring mentors to embrace their roles as enablers of change. The mentorship program is now poised to make an impact, helping young innovators build a solid foundation in robotics education and global competition.
