Mental health sessions were held at Tara, Satkhira, Shahid Ali Ahmed Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School and Shahid Kamal Model Higher Secondary School. Md. Bariul Islam, a clinical psychologist at Moner Bondhu, presided over the session. He greeted the students and ensured that they were focused on the upcoming discussion.
The aim of this session was to identify the most common mental health issues faced by adolescents such as impulsivity, stress, depression, anxiety, anger and mood disorders caused by mind-body transitions. Relationship issues, inadequate support and poor coping strategies were also covered. The session included structured group discussions aimed at exploring personal strategies for maintaining mental health. In addition, practical coping strategies were presented, emphasizing the importance of building a strong support network and using various psychological techniques such as positive thinking, self-affirmations, relaxation and proactively seeking professional help. Participants were encouraged to seek support first and peer support was encouraged. The talk also highlighted community initiatives to improve suicide prevention. Participants were given Moner Bondhu’s hotline number to get immediate professional support.
