Considering the importance of STEM education and skilled manpower in the ICT sector to tackle the Fourth Industrial revolution and post Covid-19 situation, the government of Bangladesh has officially introduced the concept of scratch programming to the primary level students of Bangladesh from 2022.

However, teachers from about 140,000 schools of Bangladesh are yet to receive necessary programming trainings, relevant course contents and materials and knowledge to teach their students.

For finding possible solutions to this, Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) organized a project titled “Scratch Programming for Tech Advancement” under the EMK small grant program. The goal of this project was to introduce formal learning mechanism by developing required and relevant tools, materials and contents (ex. Guiding curriculum for teachers, Bangla Scratch Book and develop a proper environment to bring the students back to the formal academic learning process and help them to pursue technological knowledge to fight against the post covid condition.

To introduce scratch training curriculum, courses, materials and contents for teachers and students of primary level and also to develop teaching-learning ecosystem through mass research. This will help them to be back to STEM education as COVID-19 causes a massive breakdown of formal learning and hands on practice of technology.

• To achieve tech advancement of primary level teachers and students by preparing to adopt coding skills and knowledge post covid response.
• To support the vision of the Bangladesh government to introduce coding for the students of grade 3-5.
• To introduce formal learning mechanism by developing relevant and required tools, materials and contents (ex. Guiding curriculum for teachers, Bangla Scratch Book, online and offline course contents etc.) and develop a proper environment to bring the students back to the formal academic learning process and help them to pursue technological knowledge to fight against the post covid condition.
